After retiring, Risa wanted to continue working in the education field. She decided to expand her own education by receiving further training in common core math and Wilson reading. She also completed a weeklong class on the Orton-Gillingham Reading approach. After nearly four decades in education, Risa continues to enjoy having the opportunity to work students. Risa’s wide range of skills and training make it possible for her to offer guidance in a number of K-8 subjects, lead art lessons for kids, teens, and adults, and provide guidance for art bookmaking and portfolio planning. She loves seeing students grow and achieve their goals, and she looks forward to continuing to offer exceptional tutoring services for years to come.
With years of training, education, and experience, Risa is able to provide a comprehensive array of tutoring services, and she would be happy to discuss all she has to offer. However, the opinions that mean the most come from the students and parents who have seen the results of working with Risa. You can read some of our favorite testimonials on the website. Risa is also featured on the Park Slope Parents site, where you can read more about why parents and students enjoy working with her. From her commitment to partnering with students to achieve their goals to her willingness to connect with local educators to create plans for her students, Risa always goes the extra mile.
According to one Park Slope Parent:
“I have been very impressed with the depth of her knowledge and her dedication – not just to my son’s progress in math, but to him as a person and student, overall. She has a background in education and definitely sees the ‘whole kid…’ I expected my son to be furious when I told him he’d be doing math all summer, but Risa is so fun, relaxed and engaging that he hasn’t pushed back. This is a small miracle.”
